LuxHeat cable floor heating systems can be installed with a number of fixing methods, the most popular of these being uncoupling membrane or fixing strips. The uncoupling membrane system is a premium option which adds additional protection and waterproofing for your floor covering, while the metal fixing strips offer a simple yet secure way to install your cable system without extra cost.
What spacing should I use for an electric floor heating cable?
Our cable sizes are calculated based on spacing the heating elements 3” apart, which provides the industry standard watt density of 12 watts/sqft, and provides a great balance between heat distribution and energy efficiency. For a higher heat output, you can alternate 2” and 3” spacing which provides the maximum approved watt density of 15 watt/sqft. When a lower watt density is required, you can alternate 3” and 4” spacing, but this will result in a lower overall heat output.

No, LuxHeat cables are designed to operate with a fixed a resistance and thus at a specific length, and should never be cut, lengthened or shortened. Cutting or changing the length of the radiant floor heating cable can cause overheating or failure and will void the product warranty.
